摘要:
The human biology field has invested great efforts and ingenuity to understand human genome and the gene regulation in different cell types. We gained a huge amount of knowledge by performing genome-wide studies, including genomics, epigenetics, and 3D genomics. However, these studies are limited in their abilities to account for the unexpected diversity, functional heterogeneity, and in vivo crosstalk of the various cell types. It is even more urgent to eliminate such limitations when study immune cells, due to their highly dynamic living environment and neighbor cells. Single-cell genomics hold the potential to revolutionize the way we characterize complex tissues and immune cell assemblies, and study their spatial organization, cellular activities, and different levels of biological networks. We believe single-cell genomics will provide us a much deeper understanding of our bodies, and lead us towards a better and personalized human healthcare.

Dr. Shuang-Yin Wang obtained his Bachelor degree in Biology and Master degree in Bioinformatics from Huazhong Agricultural University in 2009 and 2012, respectively. After that, he started his Ph.D. study under the supervision of Prof. Henk G. Stunnenberg at Radboud Institute for Molecular Life Sciences, Radboud University Nijmegen, the Netherlands, with the focus on epigenetics and 3D genomics in gene regulation. He obtained his Ph.D. degree in 2017. Since 2018, he has been a Postdoc fellow in the laboratory of Prof. Ido Amit at Weizmann Institute of Science, Israel, developing and applying single-cell tools to dissect the immune system and its roles in various diseases.
